Layer-Specific vs. Condition-Specific Care
If you don’t know what a layer is, read this previous article that explains it thoroughly!

OG Chiropractic is layer-specific, not condition-specific: conditions don’t respond to treatment; the CNS responds when given the opportunity.
Current symptoms, conditions, dis-ease states, and health challenges are the combined result of all stacked layers, with associated nutrient deficiencies, and inability to remove waste/toxicity. Some layers have greater impact than others, but every single one subtracts from your full potential in its own unique way.
Understanding CNS Dysfunction, Toxin Trapping, and Their Cascading Effects on Health Based Upon Layered Subluxations
The CNS acts as the body’s master control center, regulating every physiological and biochemical process through intricate neural pathways. When any part of the CNS experiences compression, attenuation, or accentuation due to spinal misalignments, it disrupts this balance. This leads to hypo-responsiveness or hyper-responsiveness, manifesting as improper or inadequate flow—affecting blood circulation, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) drainage, nerve impulses, and/or pressure changes in tissues and organs – each having their own set of consequences and adaptations that can further compound when they can’t be returned to normal.
These disruptions interact with internal and external factors like nutrient deficiencies, toxicities, reactive oxygen species, and metabolic waste. Poor diets—dominated by refined foods stripped of essential nutrients and laden with added toxicities — exacerbate these issues and overload already compromised detox systems, creating a feedback loop where nutrient-poor cells can’t efficiently process or eliminate burdens.
The gut microbiome and natural flora play a vital role here: symbiotic bacteria will attempt to consume and neutralize trapped toxins and stagnated waste. Think of a flowing river versus a stagnant pond—the former flushes waste naturally, while the latter allows and requires the micro-world to proliferate and consume it.
Direct spinal compression creates hypo-functional “dead zones” with reduced neurological activity in the tissues that the compressed nerves innervate, where ingested/absorbed toxins and metabolic waste are forced to accumulate. Reduced neural drive impairs perfusion, autophagy, and detoxification enzymes. Regional vulnerabilities depend on the nerve(s) compressed.
The vagus nerve, a key parasympathetic regulator running the “rest and digest” function for ALL major organs is often affected by upper cervical subluxation and subsequent compression on the brainstem. This leads to vagal hypo-function, clogging detoxification pathways: slowed gut peristalsis causes constipation and toxin reabsorption; impaired liver and kidney filtration backlogs toxins; reduced lymphatic pumping leads to fluid retention.
This “log jam” creates stagnation and backflow, with toxins refluxing into upstream tissues, potentially breaching barriers like the blood-brain barrier and causing neuroinflammation.
Stagnant toxins induce oxidative stress, cellular membrane damage, DNA damage/alteration, and cell death, altering pH and disrupting mitochondria or DNA repair. The body reroutes elimination via paths of least resistance: skin pores (acne, rashes), eyes/nose (watery eyes, sinus issues), mucosal pathways (chronic cough, discharge), or even hair/nails for sequestration. If toxin influx exceeds clearance — due to continuous insult through poor diet, toxic environment and daily toxic intake, or stress — the internal environment becomes chronically toxic, leading to bioaccumulation and epigenetic changes.
Iodine deficiency in this context affects thyroid hormone synthesis and tumor suppressor pathways: controlling metabolism and detoxification rate, and it upregulates p53 (the “guardian of the genome,” triggering DNA repair or apoptosis in toxin-damaged cells), p21 (a cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor halting cell cycle for repair), and p16 (preventing uncontrolled proliferation). Toxicity-induced DNA damage is mitigated by iodine’s antioxidant properties and halide/heavy metal/toxin displacement. Deficiency amplifies mutagenesis, increasing cancer risk, “auto-immunity” (adaptive immunity) and degenerative diseases, as unrepaired cellular damage and DNA errors accumulate in stagnant, hypo-innervated tissues.
The liver plays a pivotal role acting as the primary organ responsible for constructing everything necessary to rebuild and regenerate tissues while keeping the body detoxified and clean. It synthesizes cholesterol, hormones, proteins, enzymes, and cofactors for function, regeneration, and repair; metabolizes nutrients into usable forms; and neutralizes toxins through phases I and II detoxification (e.g., oxidation, conjugation). Continuous insults — such as chronic toxin overload from refined diets, spinal compression impairing hepatic innervation, or vagal dysregulation slowing bile flow — clog the liver, like a vacuum that can’t suction harmful substances, leading to backlog and amplified damage downstream.
When multiple “layers” of CNS misalignment affect the same structures, dysfunction compounds, creating a vector-based progression where chemical and biomechanical forces accelerate degeneration. The layering of subluxations traps these conditions—nutrient deficiencies, toxin stagnation, dysbiosis, and immune dysregulation to specific layers, preventing resolution until removing them. Only then, with restored CNS function and adequate therapeutic doses of nutrients, can the body address issues, enhancing microbiome recovery, detox pathways, and self-cleaning from the inside out. Normal activities produce ROS and waste, but impaired processes cause damage to outpace repair, leading to degenerative, dysfunctional, and dis-ease states.
The immune system adapts to this perpetual toxic load by staying “on,” with innate and adaptive responses targeting affected tissues. This hyper-vigilance — mislabeled as “autoimmunity” (the body NEVER attacks itself; against the law of survival) — is diagnosed by location (e.g., Hashimoto’s in the thyroid, rheumatoid arthritis in joints), but it’s the body’s response to unresolved toxicity, not a primary attack on self.
Symptoms emerge as adaptive survival strategies: inflammation mobilizes cleanup, pain enforces rest, or rashes redirect elimination. Western healthcare approaches often treat these as standalone diseases with suppressants, masking CNS roots and allowing progression. We don’t “treat” diseases; the body alone heals via innate intelligence. Avoid chasing these symptoms and dis-eases like the plague as you will chase forever and get nowhere.
Our Objective
Unwind the spine in reverse chronological order — peeling off one complete layer at a time and restoring the nervous system function each layer took away — until the entire “cube” is solved and the central nervous system is fully restored, with no hidden compensations remaining.

How do you determine the subligations? Do you do an x-ray as a roadmap apart from symptoms?? You shared with me to speak to your staff, but I don’t see a phone number and I would be flying in so I’d like to speak to someone prior to booking an appointment and flight
